Streamlining the Open Banking Reconnection Process
Under current EU regulations, a significant compliance requirement for Account Information Service Providers (AISPs) is to re-confirm end-user consent for data access every 90 days. This re-authentication process was instituted to ensure ongoing consent and secure user data. Most Fintable users in the EU needs to reconnect their bank account every 90 days.
Fintable strives to make this process as seamless as possible, ensuring that users connected through our main EU banking partner, GoCardless (formerly Nordigen) can easily re-connect their financial accounts.
How To Reconnect Your Bank Account
Fintable will attempt to seamlessly merge your existing data with the new data from the reconnected account. Hopefully, you will not see duplicates, assuming you reconnect the exact same accounts. However, we recommend making a backup of your spreadsheet before reconnecting.
- Navigate to your Fintable dashboard and click on the bank account you wish to reconnect.
- Click on the "Settings" button.
- Click on the "Reconnect" button.
- Follow the prompts until you are returned to the Fintable dashboard and then click Sync Now to confirm the reconnection.
You may reconnect anytime before the 90-day period expires. Once reconnected, the 90-day countdown will reset.
Conclusion
The shift from a mandatory hard disconnect/reconnect towards a seamless re-authentication model marks a significant improvement in the open banking workflow. Fintable’s implementation of these changes highlights its commitment to enhancing user experience while maintaining high standards of security and compliance. Users benefit from a more convenient process, which encourages continued use of open banking services without the cumbersome steps previously required.
This approach not only aligns with regulatory expectations but also sets a benchmark for user-centric practices in the financial technology industry.
